Our iron-based hard alloys with high vanadium and low chromium content form a martensitic carbide structure with finely and homogeneously distributed vanadium carbides (VC, approx. 2,900 HV). This is characterized by high abrasion resistance combined with high toughness. With suitable heat management, the weld metal can be processed in single and multiple layers without cracking. Materials in this class demonstrate their full strength in applications involving fine abrasive wear or where cutting performance is important. Possible areas of application include heavily stressed cutting and wear edges in agriculture (knives), heavy machinery construction (sliders in cement plants) and valve construction (sealing surfaces), as well as tools for forming technology.
